Who’s Here at The Space introduces you to current and past tenants who have brought their services here! Nurturing Behaviours Inc (in collaboration with Wild in Wellness) offers inclusive, child-centered programs designed for children with more complex support needs. Their programs encourage creativity, self-expression, and also confidence in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Let’s start at the beginning — what’s the story behind your business? What moment or experience made you think, “I need to create this”?
There are a lot of different therapies out there, but not necessarily opportunities for individuals with more complex needs or requiring more support, so we wanted to create some programming options that were funding eligible for these children to participate in!
You’re wonderful! What’s the feeling you’re trying to create for people who walk into your event?
We want the kids who participate in our program to feel empowered. To enjoy creativity and expressing themselves in a supportive environment.
What’s next for you? What are you dreaming into right now?
More collaboration with community partners and bringing more program options to our community! There are so many options out there, and we really want to get involved and participate.
If someone’s on the fence about attending your event, what would you want them to know?
We’re here to support your creativity to whatever level feels comfortable for you. There is no pressure—this is child-led and child-centered.
How do you take care of yourself as a facilitator/creator while running events for others?
Rely on your team, community partners, and participants. It can be stressful starting a new program, as you really don’t know what the turnout will be, even if interest seems high. It’s taking a leap of faith, trusting each other, and being willing to flop and try again together as a team.
Where can people find you or follow your work?
On Instagram! Following our handle “nurturingbehaviours” is the best way to stay up-to-date on current events!
